Charaka prescribes a structured Dinacharya โ waking before sunrise, oil-pulling, exercise calibrated to your constitution, and eating at fixed times. Consistency in routine builds Ojas (vital essence), the root of immunity and vitality.
Seasonal Eating
Ritucharya teaches that each of the six seasons (Vasanta, Grishma, Varsha, Sharad, Hemanta, Shishira) demands different foods, tastes, and quantities. Eating against the season depletes your Dosha balance and weakens digestion.
Foods & Their Actions
The longest chapter of Sutrasthana catalogues hundreds of foods โ grains, meats, vegetables, oils, milk preparations โ describing their Rasa (taste), Virya (potency) and Vipaka (post-digestive effect) on each dosha.
Know Your Constitution
Ayurveda recognises three biological energies โ Vata, Pitta and Kapha โ that govern all physical and mental processes. Your unique combination determines which foods heal you and which harm you.
Vata
Governs movement, breathing, circulation and nerve impulses. When balanced: creative, energetic, alert. When excess: anxiety, dry skin, irregular digestion.
Pitta
Governs digestion, metabolism, body temperature and intelligence. When balanced: sharp, focused, confident. When excess: inflammation, acidity, irritability.
Kapha
Governs structure, lubrication, growth and immunity. When balanced: calm, strong, nurturing. When excess: weight gain, congestion, lethargy.
